There is also a book (http://www.amazon.com/Leading-Geeks-Manage-Deliver-Technology/dp/0787961485) that seems to be very interesting.
The basic idea is easy: "geek job is different from other jobs because the creativity is one of the most important part of the commitment" so that standard management approaches doesn't work as expected and if you want to increase the effectiveness of teams if you've to rethink about the meaning of leadership.
